Realtime online counter: online-right-now.net released as open source on github.com
Today i released the code and configuration of online-right-now.net as open source on github.com. Online-right-now.net was developed for testing out the functionality and possibilities nginx provides using 3rd party modules. It is far from being stable or production ready for it was mainly for my own learnings, but shows a concept of how you can create a realtime online counter in a fast an efficient way.
Tests with the ab tool (apache benchmark) on a cloud server with 1gb of ram showed up to 6000 requests/second, but i did not had the chance yet to test it with a really big website. If you do such tests please let me know what happened
